Why you should do a Boudoir Shoot

I belief strongly that you should be a product of your product. After going through a very difficult relationship a few years ago, a friend recommended a photoshoot. At first, I was nervous because I really didn’t feel good about myself. I bit the bullet and went for the shoot… after getting the photos, I was actually so impressed I gave myself a high five (Where no one saw me…weird I know but the feeling was awesome).

It was the first step for me to feel good about myself again. I couldn’t stop (haha), I went for so many shoots that I became a part-time model and this whole concept really became a passion for me. I decided to try the other side of the lens, I’m all for women empowerment and I wanted other women to experience this too. I’ve been a photographer now for the last 7+ years. I’ve seen from being in front of, to behind the lens that photo shoots are really a secret key to self-confidence.

Through experience and after photographing hundreds of women for beauty and boudoir portraits, I’ve found a few things most women have in common before their photo shoot, I felt it too…

Most women show up to the shoot thinking they won’t look as good as the women on Magazine covers, that they have to look a certain way or be a certain weight to look good in front of the lens, that they won’t like the photos of themselves, or that they’re “not photogenic”. This is common, sadly, most women don’t believe in their beauty….yet.

But with every woman I’ve worked with, they walk out of the studio uplifted, empowered and you can see that they feel more comfortable in their skin.

You might be surprised, but all the women on my website are just ordinary women like me and you, none of them are professional models. I will make a blog post about this soon.

So what is it about a boudoir shoot that can change so many women’s perspectives of themselves?

Doing a BOUDOIR shoot is the ultimate challenge (that is why I decided to do Boudoir Photography). You are in a vulnerable state where you literally have to strut your stuff that you would rather prefer to hide. But the beauty in it is that you are celebrating yourself for exactly what age and weight you are at this very moment (you are the youngest that you will ever be today), investing in yourself, stepping out of your comfort zone and seeing yourself through somebody else’s eyes (and lens).

Combined with the art of posing I will help you with every single pose using my modelling experience. It is important for me to take the most beautiful pictures of you that anyone has ever taken of you and to capture the real you in a raw and stunning way. To show you your beauty, even if you don’t see it yourself. In the beginning of each of my photo shoots, I show my client one of the photos I took on my camera. This photo unretouched, unedited, just straight out of camera. I’ve had reactions ranging from disbelief to happy tears.

This truly is life changing stuff.

So all you have to do is bring your outfits (read my “Dream shoot planner” for guidance), and leave the rest to me. I will sort through them and plan the looks and discuss the look and feel of the shoot with you. I can do any type of shoot from moody and contrasty to light and airy. We can even change it up.

Hi Amorie, doing a shoot was always a secret dream of mine, but being in a terrible relationship from a very young age, having children young I just never had the opportunity to do it, but I am in the process of getting divorced and I promised myself I would do something for me when it was all over. I would love if doing this shoot was my one thing. Please send me a price list and a few do’s and donts.. I would truly appreciate it. Thanks Jessica
